This old bovine breed with red fur, is originally a working animal. Under 40 years of rigorous selection and his improvement, it was possible to know and develop the potentialities of this breed to the production of meat.
All this evolution was possible due to the excellent adaptation of these animals to the region's natural conditions that gives them the name. They feed of the natural or improved pastures, acorn and hay or they resorts to the straw and cereals as soon as the natural resourses start to be more rare as the clima seasonal changes ocurre.
